Please note that just because I post something here doesn't mean that I agree 100% with the source article. If you haven't noticed, it's how I do things. I don't think I can agree 100% with anything. The key is contextual integration. But before I get longwinded, here's the quote:

"Our puppet-making skills are significantly better than our ability to challenge state power. That isn’t a problem if our goal is make good street theater, but our goal is to remake society. Certainly there is a place for puppets and street theater and other symbolic acts. But these tactics are largely disconnected from strategies for building concrete resistance to the state and capitalism."

OK, that's it for now

"The billboard features the ubiquitous red Coca-Cola wall painting, commonly found across India. Directly preceding the Coca-Cola ad, and part of the billboard, is a dry water hand-pump, with empty vessels waiting to be filled up with water - a common scene in India, particularly in Chennai.

On July 11, 2005, the law firm of Daniel & Gladys, who represent Coca-Cola's Indian subsidiary, sent a letter to Mr. Haksar threatening him with serious legal actions unless the billboard was replaced 'unconditionally and immediately'. Coca-Cola would seek Indian Rupees 2 million (US$ 45,000) for "incalculable damage to the goodwill and reputation" of Coca-Cola, and also sought an 'unconditional apology in writing'."

Uh... How about you taking people's water that they need to survive for your fucking profit margins... Maybe it's just me... But it seems that maybe it's THAT which is the actual cause for "... damage to the goodwill and reputation"!!!

via talking points memo:

"Social Security's support of the poorest Americans is a critical part of what it accomplishes. But Social Security is not poor relief. That is only what the president wants to make it -- in part because, once it is, it is far easier to cut further, since it has no organized political constituency."

Also, he discusses a filibuster against Frist.  Not by the Senate, but by ordinary people.  Interestingly enough, Edward Witten is one of the people signed on to do it.

From the wikipedia link above about him:

He is currently the Charles Simonyi professor of mathematical physics at the Institute for Advanced Study. Edward Witten is a mathematical physicist who does research in M-theory, which is a unification of 5 superstring theories and 11-dimensional supergravity.
