shroomed yesterday. A much needed vacation. I bought a book on patterns and the mathematics of form and harmony in nature, and looked at that before the trip. Watch the water ripples and counter-ripples. The clouds dissolving into a flat white sheet. Watched some beautiful kayaking people, a hippie dude and chick. And some bourgeois speedboaters. I mean big fucking boats, just like going super fast. Like Tony said "It's hard not to be judgemental at times..." Then we walked home, wanted to watch Simpsons, but the fucking NASCAR shit was on. And we just sat and laughed at the shit. I realized that the reason racing is so popular is because it's symbolic of life, or at least life for the majority. Going really really fast and getting nowhere just as fast... Running in circles. And just to see the trash. And it's not a white trash culture thing anymore. It's not about rednecks in jeeps. It's not a racial thing, it's just a trash thing. And I know I may piss off some of my more egalitarian friends on the list. And I know that the lower class is supposed to support the struggle, but I really have no hope for any sort of class consciousness anymore.

We flipped channels and saw some patriotic propganda on public TV... Some schlock with Tony Danza surrounded by all these kids singing songs about how great America is... That guy is getting old. And there were a bunch of military type people all patriotic and stuff... GAH!!!!

Then we flipped again and those damned twins were on. You know the Olson twins. christ, it makes me sick. Tony was like "They have so many people around them supporting them and holding them up, they don't have any clue." And it's true. I feel sad that these people are used to fulfill the dreams that they're mommy and daddy couldn't achieve. Imagine living your entire fucking life, from basically birth, surrounded as a star. Not just a child star, but a baby star, like those twins. Sad.

Didn't get to meet David, but Tony got to hang out in the hotel room(had I gone to the show, there was a good chance I could've went, but Stephen Thompson didn't know who I was, so he just didn't want me to go for that reason. And that's cool) I was mostly happy for Tony. David was pretty cool, chill, and all that(I would expect that) Tony talked to some members of the band, and the videographer(who was pretty cool, apparently) I guess David was just in the corner hanging with some chick, so Tony didn't wanna bother him too much. So Tony brought out a J, and the bands were all like "Our savior! It's been two days since we smoked" so he got to toke up, but David didn't want to... I think that's pretty fucking rad.

Some lady in the audience was apparently pretty upset by his atheistic rips on religion.

Went out and walked for a couple blocks today. Am going to get back into walking. And yes, it's pathetic, but one block is a lot of work for me. My legs are aching. But we walked yesterday while shrooming today, I just need to keep it up.

I'm also going to buy a hand-pushed mower, because there's no need to use a gas mower on our tiny yard, making all sorts of noise and polluting the earth.

Saw our old neighbor/dealer, John, and talked to him a while. Fun fun... He's a hoot. He plays guitar in a blues band, and also... He's a Stalinist. Yep, a Stalinist. Well, he's at least an apologist for Stalin. You don't find too many of those around these days. Even most committed Commies aren't pro-Stalin. But he's a fun guy to talk to... We like just to rant and shit together. Heh heh.... He's like "we should just get rid of the bill of rights" and I was like shit, that's pretty hardcore. Anyways.

Rosemary's not having a very good weekend, but hopefully she'll be having some sort of fun at least by the end of the trip. It was fucking nice and sunny here all weekend, and she goes to Door County, and get stuck with shitty rain and all that.

I feel guilty for saying it usually, but it's hard to believe "the hope is in the proles" in a town full of back-stabbing, illiterate crack addicts and alcoholics who would beat down their own grandmas to get lifted. I just watched a bunch of tv at my mom's and it freaked me out -- too many implications. Oh, and three more things: be careful with those push mowers, when I was a kid I knew a lady who lost three toes using one; if you don't mind me asking, why is it strenuous to walk a block -- fibromyalgia or something? My friend Shari has that and can't even wear regular shoes anymore, just soft moccasins; lastly, I was walking around in Toronto with my friend Danny and we saw some really old guy who was a Stalinist for real. He had pins all over and rambled on about it semi-coherently at the bus stop. He told us a story of Stalin's great compassion, how he went before him and was spared his life for some reason, then pledged undying loyalty. He seemed delusional, so who knows if there's even a grain of truth in his story. Sometimes befriending street people detains you for too long, the dude wouldn't shut up about it for an hour or more.
