Your assignment kids, is to look up some of these words in your favorite search engine and read about this. Then you tell me where the next hotspot is gonna be... You hear bits and pieces about Kashmir and India and Pakistan, but what do you know of it? I guarantee you will be quite disturbed to find that India is not as democratic as you probably think. That there is a nationalist/fascistic movement that has desecrated Moslem Mosques, killed Moslems and Christians, rioted, raped, killed thousands of Sikhs... It uses the beautiful principles of Hinduism and distorts them into an ugly, growing cancer... Destroying the very heart of religion and space that the Indian subcontinent has had flourish over thousands of years. Seriously, if you've got time or even any inkling, you should read up on it.

Yes, the Middle East is a hot spot, but this is the other one to watch out for.

Not to sound too unsurprized, but India and Hinduism have always been a caste system and Kashmir has been in dispute for decades at the least...possibly centuries. India suddenly becoming a democracy is like China suddenly being anything other than an empire. Whether the ruler is called Chairman or Emperor makes little difference in reality. There are too many systems in place for centuries to change for anything like that to shift suddenly.

I don't disagree that it is a hot spot. However it's pretty much the same one. Afganistan, Palestine, and Kashmir are all in turmoil over land ownership, religion, and the use of those two things to create warlike ideologies. Unfortunately, goofus in chief doesn't seem to mind playing us off as thier boogyman.

That *IS* disturbing but not surprising.

What's even more disturbing is what sort of thing America does that most Americans have no idea about.

Just look at some of our excursions into foreign policy from sources outside the US or mainstream media.

Pretty frightening stuff. And people wonder why the US has so many enemies...

Blessings,
Ardi
