Yeah, the thing is there's many different kinds of reggae. The question is what kind you like. There's the Bob Marley kind (which people call Roots), and then there's the electronic overlay stuff (Dub), the godfather of which is Lee "Scratch" Perry (basically they run the audio through echo filters and stuff), and Ragga, which is sorta like Rap-reggae (Snow was a real bad imitation of this style...) Ragga can work quite well, IMO, with Drum and Bass, but I'm not a fan of Ragga on it's own.
Rocksteady and Ska are two other categories, I'm sure you know of ska, but I'm not sure myself, exactly what rock-steady is.
Personally I like Roots the most, hence Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, The Congos, The Gladiators (as I've just learned), and such artists are my faves.
