symbioidljOK, say you look at a house to rent, and when you go inside, you meet a guy that has a beastie boys poster up, 2 i-macs, a g4, a two turntables(didn't see a microphone), a little keyboard, anime posters up the ass, an oni screen saver on one imac... You think this person's pretty cool. You talk to him a little, he smiles and is really nice. You don't know his number or anything, but would like to get in touch cuz you think there'd be some common interests.
here's the question. Is it alright to go to the house and see if he'd wanna hang out and see if there's common interests in order to make a new friend, or is that just weird? Someone i know says it's weird. And it does seem weird, but hey, it's fun to meet new people with common interests. I don't wanna do it until i get a decent feedback so i know if it's alright to do that, or if i'll just come across as another freak(ok, so i am, but still...)
I've only got a core few friends, and I'd like to make more. Since i don't really like bars i tend not to go there. Anyways, any advice? (Jesus, i sound like i should be writing to ann landers or something)

My shoes smell like gasoline. I went to the gas station to put gas in the tank, and the pump was pulled close to the handle. I thought it was odd, but thought it may be a different kinda handle than what i was used to. i pumped it a few times, and it didn't release so i figured it was alright. i proceeded to lift the lever to start the gas flow, and indeed it did!!!
37 cents worth o' gas all over my car and ground and shit. that's a fair amount o' gas. so my car and shoes now smell like gas. that sucks. oh well.

i just installed baldurs gate 2 again. after my freaking hard drive got wiped a month ago and had to buy a new one. What happened? I fucked up my mandrake linux install. I accidentally set lilo to load into mandrake instead of give me a menu at boot. It already pissed me off, cuz normally i wanted to boot to windoze, cuz linux wouldn't properly detect my NIC, and thus I couldn't connect to the net... So, i tried to do two things in one fell swoop... reset lilo so my boot menu would stay up indefinitely(instead of booting linux after 5 seconds without a response), and set windoze as default in case i couldn't get an infinite wait time on the menu. Well, i got windows to load, but there was still no boot menu. I was locked outta linux. So i downloaded a shareware bootmanager. That damn thing wouldn't detect my linux. It also wrote to my master boot record. When i tried to uninstall it from windows, it was still hooked to the MBR. Then, it acted all crappy, and i couldn't even get into windows. I tried to reformat the hard drive, and it still fucked up. I realized then it was on the MBR, and not just on windows somewhere. I tried to repartition and all that, but no luck. So i bought a new hard drive. My old one is still here.(I saved it... woohoo!!!) What's the point of all this?
Tonight on our linux users mailing list, someone asked how to uninstall mandrake linux, and the guy said to use fdisk /mbr from the dos prompt. CHRIST!!!!!!! Had I known that I coulda saved meself a chunk o' change and wouldn't have lost a lot of the data i had.(back up kiddies!!! that's one lesson i learned) so i'm leaving linux alone until/unless i get a different network card.

speaking of operating systems: OS X!!! Ok when i get a new computer, i've decided to get a mac. I'm tired of windows, and I don't like the way M$ is headed with their hailstorm/.net initiatives. Since os x will have a unix base, and is partly open source, along with a kick ass interface, i'm going mac. I mean, there's audio software for it and of course graphic imaging software. Everything i need to do, i can do on it. plus protected memory and all that fun stuff. And i DON'T like the way Whistler would force me to manage my files the way M$ wants me to. Fascist bitches.
