I'm going to post a verse/section of various world scriptures once a day. I'd like to see your responses, and if you have any to share in response, I'd appreciate it. Now, when I say scriptures, to me, they may be traditional scriptures, but also words of insight from what could be considered holy books to me, and that includes works by my 2 prophets: Terence McKenna and Hakim Bey.
One reason I'm doing this, is because now, more than ever, we need wisdom. I've talked it before, but I find myself needing to tap into those universal spiritual truths of unity and love, compassion, moderation, peace, harmony... I've had so much rage built up inside of me, and it does no-one any good. We cannot continue to react. We must pursue the world we want, with or without them. And this means, as well, expanding our personal development. We need to work towards our own enlightnment, with diligence(to parahrase the Buddha)...
I believe that as above, so below. And conversely, this is true. It's hard for me to leave anger and rage and hatred behind. I am attuned to it. And I react. But I know reaction is from the mind that divides between 0 and 1, yes and no, right and wrong, good and evil, self and other. When I can attain the view of unity/Tawhid... When I can see the Tao as the One, and not discriminate between this and that. Then I shall be free.
My biggest fear right now, is that of losing my moral compass... How can you say that something is Eternal, and in the big scheme, we are all part of it, and that Hitler was just as much a part of God as the buddhas? This is how to gain release, and yet it is so hard. Because we do create a dichotomy between suffering and not suffering, and we feel compassion for those who suffer. This is the boddhisatva ideal: May I not be released until I help all of creation be liberated. But this, too, arises from duality. And I believe that in order to understand it, Unity is of the essence. "I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together."
That way of the Tao is the way of water, it surrenders to the other, but in so doing, it overtakes it, by washing around it and surrounding it. This is what we need as a strategy for political and spiritual evolution... revolution. How do we do this? Where do we go? Not everyone needs to see the same things in every way. But underneath, we sense a universal expression of love and compassion. If you destroy your cynicism, and allow yourself to feel it. But we have built up layers and layers of shit upon ourselves, baggage of psychic trauma... And so we have armor to defend ourselves, and it makes us ill as a people. This is like the psychic armor of Wilhelm Reich, that we suffer much pain, because we are stressed and tense in many ways. We need to release ourselves from this repression, from this oppression. We need our own liberation, and we cannot expect others to do it for us.
I will make my first post of that tomorrow...
