I think...

I think there needs to be a Pacific Northwest secession. San-Fran, up Oregon(including, of course, Portland), Seattle, Vancouver, BC...

There was a movement for "Cascadia" and there are currently some movements working towards this. I really think it's a wonderful idea. Because I think we need to just separate a little. It's like, when you're getting in an argument with someone, and you need to cool off, otherwise you just keep butting heads. Well, America needs to divorce itself somehow, into bioregions

Pacifica, and Jefferson are also movements for secession of similar regions in the Pacific Northwest.

Instead of migrating to Canada, why not mass migrate to this region, and push to secede from the union? All of us liberals and radicals. Oregon, California, Washington and Vancouver. There would have to be citizens meetings, conferences through the internet of town-hall meetings to build the framework for secession. Legal framework has to be built, both to secede, and to integrate, and to figure out how to integrate into a unified entity, though culturally, I'm sure there are many similarities, there will be differences to deal with.

I was gonna post some links, but I'm tired. Seriously, Please Google Cascadia, Pacifica, or Jefferson. If you're using mozilla/firefox, all you have to do is select the word, right click and choose "search web for 'searchstring'" It will pull up the default search engine(I believe Google is the on built in)... It's not hard to do. In fact, you can just right click when you select the option, so it opens in a new tab, and you can stay on your friends page in this one.

as much as i love the idea of seceding and think it'll eventually happen anyway (as gays move out of states banning gay marriage and into ones that won't, the conservative states become more conservative and the liberal more liberal, and it's only a matter of time until another minority group is affected, and they leave arkansas for california or new york, and then it's only a matter of time until the liberal states pass something liberal enough to make conservatives want to leave for texas, etc, etc...), i think it'd be decades, perhaps a century, before enough momentum was finally built up to literally seperate the country and have it succeed... and the odds of anything like this being attempted without some sort of civil war is nil, in my estimation.

which sucks.
