symbioidlj(personal life) RANT FILTER:
So. Last night Tony called, I figured we'd just set up a time to jam today, but he didn't sound like he'd be up to it. Well, then he asked about the debates, and I said that yeah, we're TiVoing it. He said he was going to see Beethoven's 9th with his new ladyfriend(a girl named Emily) at the new Overture Center. I and Rosemary absolutely refuse to go there. Even if Boards of Canada ever go there, I alas, would have to refuse to go.
This piece of shit art center is destroying a lot of the downtown, and bringing more creeping gentrification in, so all these rich fancy ass bastards can have their "arts"... Some rich asshole "donated"(bribed?) 200 million to Madison to build this thing. The old mayor signed off on it, and now we've got lots of shops closed down, and there's gonna be more GAP type stores, and Madison will continue to lose more of it's flavor. All in an attempt to make it bigger than it is. Madison can't handle the growth the developers want. It's on a tiny fucking isthmus. The only place to go is UP...
Now, that said, I'm disappointed that Tony went there. He doesn't see a problem with it. Which is odd, because he seems to dislike gentrification in general. It's his choice, and that's fine. Oh, Rosemary told me about this thing that happened. Ani di Franco performed there(she usually performs at the Barrymore, which is a fucking KICK-ASS venue IMO, I love the Barrymore for shows), anyways, apparently she wanted to set up some "get out the vote" tables, and the place wanted to charge her 125 bucks per table. She said that's the first time in all her years of touring that this has ever happened to her. Hopefully she'll never go back again.
Anyways. Tony asked me to record the debates for him. But sometimes, he doesn't just ask he has this edgy sort of "demand" vibe. And it really annoys me. Usually it happens either with getting tickets for a show, or recording something off of TV(especially something new or a one-shot)... Now, I know I'm a slacker, but it gets really fucking irritating to have someone basically expect you to do something RIGHT THIS MINUTE. I understand wanting to make sure you get the tickets, but sometimes, Tony wants me to get tickets to a show, and their not even on sale yet, and he just keeps hounding me.
Now, with TV, sometimes, it's the case that there's something new. We just got Digital cable a while back, and right away: "You HAVE TO record Ali G" (Not, hey, you wanna check it out, I hear it's good) "I need to check it out" (well he bought the DVD of the first season now... but he wants me to record the newest episodes.) And of course, with Sealab and ATHF "You HAVE TO record these shows" Really? When did I become your TV bitch. It really pisses me off. I mean, yes, we do favors for each other. I appreciate me lending his CD's for me to burn. I ask him if he can bring some over, and if he has trouble finding one at the moment, I say it's no problem, I can burn it later. But this attitude of "DO IT NOW!" really burns me a LOT!
And... He's ALWAYS fucking late. ALWAYS. When his cat(Miles) was really ill, he said that was part of the reason, and that he would try to be better, now that Miles is gone. Well, guess what? Nope, I can ask him to hop over at 5:30 and he still won't get here til 7:00 sometimes. I can understand even a half hour, but over that, come on.... It really gets frustrating, especially when he's always expecting me to do shit for him at the drop of a hat. And it's not like I'm asking him as a surprise, we usually jam on weekends, so this is a routine, and I've told him many times, I'd like to start earlier, but he never really does get here earlier in general.
He didn't sound like he wanted to jam today, but then wanted to go to movies. Right now, I don't give a shit, and don't care to see a movie.
He wanted me to records the Pres Debates, which I did on TiVo, and Rosemary and I watched it last night. He asked why I just didn't record it while watching it, and I told him that because we like to pause and comment while watching, and we're sure he doesn't want to have to deal with that. He thought it was dumb. If you have TiVo, I'm sorry, but that's just how you fucking watch TV... And, Yeah, it sucks I'll have to record separately a second time. But so be it.
I was really feeling pissed last night and went to bed early, fuming over this... I decided I'd let him have the tape, and tell him I didn't want to watch a movie or jam today. Cuz I really don't. So now, I get up...
I flick on the TiVo, go to find the Pres Debs... and alas....
THEY'RE GONE!!!
I don't know what happened. My guess is, and we've done this before, that we've deleted it by habit(when we're done watching something, we usually just hit delete to free up space)... Sometimes(as in the case of recording shit for Tony), we don't want to delete it, but mistakes happen.
This was the ONE thing I planned on doing for him to make him happy. And now THAT is fucked. I feel terrible.
And of course, now I feel bad about that, and I'm also pissed at him, which doesn't make apologizing easier, even though I know it was a mistake and I do feel bad that this happened. It's hard.
Too much negative energy right now, I guess. Sorry.

that last pdf, if you look for emmalee pearson(at the bottom of the article), there's a picture of her, it looks like her, at least. It's not exact, but I'm almost positive it's the same Emmalee(I always thought it was Emily)...

About what you should/shouldn't be eating, about excercising, etc. I wasn't sure if you told him to hound you on those things to keep you in check or if he was doing it himself though.
