I downloaded some smashing pumpkins last night and heard Luna again for the first time in a long time. It brings tears to my eyes, because it reminds me of Emma. Emma died a few years ago(97 I believe, maybe it was 96, damn... i should remember this.) I am saddened now because of it. I am actually in quite good spirits otherwise, though. I mean overall, I'm feeling much better, a little more energized, less tired, etc... Anyways, let me tell you about Emma.
Emma Bacon was her name. She was a few years younger than me. She always seemed tough, but yet insecure. She had a faerie spirit, I think. We used to hang out a lot. I had a crush on her, but she ended up dating Tony(the story of my life... *sigh*)
One time, we were in my '76 pinto(the coolest car I've ever had, my first car, too... It had character, style, it was it's own thing), and we were listening to Siamese Dream and were discussing our favorite song from there. She liked Disarm and Soma(as did I), but she also liked Spaceboy(I'm not too keen on that one)... Luna was playing in the deck. That's why I remembered. That was the trigger.
Another time, we were at a battle of the Bands(8 bands in all!), and as we sat there listening to them, she came up to me, and kissed me, first, on my right cheek, then walked in front of me, and kissed my left cheek. Then she stood in front of me, looked me in the eyes, stood on her toes and kissed me on the forehead. She came back down on her feet, and looked me once more in the eyes, smiling with her bright red lipsticked lips and bright eyes... Her big grin emoting both an impish evil, yet an impish love. The words that came out of her mouth:
"That's for you George*, cuz no-one else will kiss you."
And just like Emma, it was both love, play, pain and torment. With that, she turned around and walked away.
Emma died a most horrible death, a truly tragic death which I can say I don't think I will ever know of anyone who will again die in such a way. Emma had been to Lincoln School for Girls, a school that's supposed to help troubled girls. I think she did alright. She was getting her life on track. After she graduated, she moved to Madison(I was still stuck in Door County at the time), and was apparently going to night-school for nursing. She was trying to get her life in order. Her "day-job" was that of an escort. Her brother said she was very proud of the fact that she wouldn't lower herself to partake in sexual encounters.
One time on what seemed like another routine appointment, she arrived at a motel. Opening the door, she would never have known what fate would hold for her. Apparently, upon entering the room, not seconds later, the asshole who called her there through the escort agency, hit her head with a sledgehammer
(I just read more on a page, which I'll link to, and it says she had much more happen to her.) She died a gruesome bloody death. I believe the guy got life. My memory is not 100% accurate, because it says she was not attending school at that point, but was hoping to go to school for nursing.
It's sad. It's nice to know that her death is not forgotten, that I can do a search on the internet for Emma Bacon Wisconsin, and find a couple references to her. It's a shame that she will only be known primarily as a sexworker, even though they try to paint a larger picture for her. There are those who knew her personally, and we will always keep her in our heart.
I will post on the many deaths of those I have known and those who were so young when I get a chance later. I have seen much death in my life. I have honestly become a little numb to it, but I think I am going to come to grips with it now. I think I have been scarred by it(not just Emma but all these tragic deaths which I have seen/known)

No Humans Involved
I think I need to once more get into a feminist mindset. I was learning and seemed to have slipped out lately. So, Rosemary? I think I'm going to take you up on that offer.(? is that the right word?)
Bye everyone!
