abadman will hopefully be up and running once i can get mysql properly running and configured. it looks like it's running, but it's not doing it right. i've too much a headache now to worry about it, so hopefully i can work on it tomorrow night, and hopefully i'm feeling better.

i did notice, though, that gentoo is assuming a default of 33 mhz IDE bus speed, and that may just explain the slowness of the drive reads. i'll look into boosting it(it appears something like a change in grub i may have to configure... i'll look it up, and hopefully that can make this run hella faster. i should be able to 100 mhz speeds on the bus. i believe that's what my mobo and drive supports. i should look up just to be safe, thought.)
