I suppose I shall post about my first Xmas gathering of this year.
Rosemary and I went to my parents house where we got together with my parents, both my sisters, and their families.
Holly has a daughter Rachel who is 14. Shannon has Mark for a husband and Nick who is 4 and Aaron who's 2 1/2...
Holly's son Tim, who just graduated and is going to one of those Media Institute schools in Green Bay visited for a night, and unlocked Rainbow Road in Mario Kart for me. :)
It was actually a very good xmas this year. Just a great fun time was had by all.
During the opening of the presents, the little ones were fun to watch. At one point, Aaron opened up his present and saw a cardboard box, and screamed with such glee!!!!!!!!!!
"I GOT A BOX! I GOT A BOX!" I never realized a kid could be so happy with a box. Of course we told him to open the box.
Nick then opened a smaller package, and it was batteries.
"YAY! I GOT BATTERIES!"
The batteries were for a car playset, which, when Nick opened said "It's just what I wanted, how did you know, Grandma?"
I brought the gamecube up and a lot of people were playing it, Actually I probably played it the least. It's funny watching the kids play it, because they don't care about racing. Nick had fun smashing into the large ice-cubes on the ice-course, and having the car freeze.
Aaron is 2 and of course, has the terrible twos attitude. He hit people, and went up to Rosemary and said(in perfectly formed sentence) "I want you to get out of that chair!" He's a little tyrant.
My mom had told me that Nick probably had a form of autism, but didn't remember what it was called. When I got there, I saw a book about Aspergers (this was, i believe, my mom's book), and the day we left, mark talked a little about it to Rosemary and confirmed it was Aspergers. I knew a little about, but will research more. He seems to do fairly well, but I can see some of the awkwardness he has in social relations. It will probably become more apparent as he gets older.
I also found out why I am fucked up. I had a suspicion that when I was a kid, Holly(my oldest sister) had given me some LSD. She said "NO way!" But she did say that she shook me really hard once to stop me from crying... She was probably not much older than 14, if that(we're 12 years apart in age) I said "That explains it!" I'm lucky I didn't get real brain damage.
Then, however, after my parents and Shannon and Mark went to bed, Holly told me that she actually did give me pot when I was 5. She said I kept going up to her friend who had the bowl at the time and kept saying "MORE MORE!!!"
I don't know if I actually got stoned or not, but I do think I remember the specific day. And it might explain why it was so vivid and fun.
That is probably a big clue to why I am who I am.(at least part of it)
Everyone seemed happy with their presents, I think. I liked all that I got. I hope everyone liked theirs from me. I got "Apples to Apples", a party game, for Shannon and Mark(they have their suburban neighborhood party-game nights) It was pretty damn fun, i think. I noticed it was actually created by madisonians or at least published in madison, which was pretty cool.
Anyways, got home yesterday and tired and sore.
I'm pissed that my xmas bonus, which I told my boss's wife to leave on my desk in an envelope, was NOT there when I got home last night, which means, I won't get it until probably Friday at the earliest, and at that point, a lot of my vacation is gone.
There's a lot of bullshit about how they did xmas at work this year, but whatever...... I'm still glad I have a job, and a job where they pay well, and a job where the boss DOES take us all out to a fancy dinner, and give us a fat ass bonus, so I can't totally complain. I'm sure it was just a mistake on Linda(the boss's wife)'s part. It's just kinda frustrating. *sigh*
Whatever.
But still had a great time, regardless.
