symbioidljGot logjam up and running again. Yeah, I'm on mandrake linux once more. sigh. i'm a fucktard. i know. i'm a glutton for punishment. I promise not to whine... too much.
Tried to get gtk2 installed(i'm using mandrake 9.1)... I thought I had gtk2 with this, but apparently it has only gtk1.2 libs... i'm not sure exactly, cuz it seems like it should use the newer gtk libs... i didn't see them on the cd. I tried to download and install the rpms but it broke gnome, so I reinstalled.
when i have the time to really sit down(I've been working my ass off lately at work, so haven't had much personal time, so I'm enjoying that when I can), I will look more in depth at gtk2...
Then I can install the newer version of logjam.
I am excited about using linux again. I know I'll be frustrated at times. but I just have to be aware that I will spend time working with it. sad thing is, if you don't use it for a while, you forget all the stuff you did learn. I was compiling stuff from source code, not using rpms... it was fun, if frustrating, but I know the rpms allow the system to keep track of stuff better.
I definitely think gentoo's method of installation is pretty fucking amazing... the dependencies are all taken care of by portage. beautiful system.
The only reason I haven't re-installed that is the compile time for the distro, and the compilation of the packages themselves. But it is nice to have it all built for your system.
Every time I look at WinXP, I get chills. I don't ever want to "upgrade", but feel that games eventually are going to require XP to even run, and at that point, what can you do, but either go console only, or give in... Or only play the linux games that have been ported... I suppose there is that WineX game emulation system... I havne't played any computer games lately anyways... haven't done much lately due to this Overtime.
Oh well. Whatever.

Maybe I'll even try to attend a madLUG gathering or something. who knows.
