fuck.
so I'm at work, and start up my computer this morning and I get a "cannot find msinfo"... message. The computer is running slower, so I dial up the net and do a bit of searching(whilst also upgrading the antivirus software to the latest info), and find that what i have is a global-finder hijack trojan.

I've downloaded the fix, but want to get the antivirus software updated first, which takes forever to download on a shitty 56k modem.

Fucking M$ and their shitty virtual JavaVM.

Now how much of my day is going to be wasted? I just hope I can clear all this shit out without any major problems so I can make a new backup of the data(it's been a couple weeks since I last did it).

Sometimes it sucks being the "IT" guy at your workplace. And yeah, that's a big stretch of the term IT, but damn it's still better than most of the people around here.

I tell ya... If they made assessment software for Linux that was x-platform compatible, I'd totally go for Linux here anyday... (yeah, yeah, [livejournal.com profile] abadman I know... I whine too much about linux as it is, how would I be able to be the admin at work?

But work only requires a minimum fuss once the system is setup, whereas, at home, I like to hack and play.

anyways.
fuck MS, and fuck exploits. and please let this work.
