KDE is my bitch!
I compiled it all last night during the trip. (Along with XFREE86, obviously), and now after a shitload of trouble getting my MS Intellimouse USB to work, I finally got KDE to run in 1024x768 mode(yeah yeah, I know it's low, but I've only got a 15 inch monitor! One day, I will get something larger than this. sigh)
I had trouble getting the resolutions down, they were too high at first, but I figured out about the virtual screen resolution, and got it set properly, along with tweaking my video card and monitor.
How do I logout of X/KDE and return to console without having to reboot the whole damn system?!
I'm an excited boy. And now that I understand more about configuring shit, I feel better. Plus I think I'll be able to get things to work more properly now that my directories are a little more standardized.
I hope I can get Annotea set up finally(that is the whole reason I switched to gentoo in the first place).
Well, I'm going. Tomorrow, I'm getting the LogJam client once more, and evolution for mail, and mozilla. Woot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And sorry for all the computer geek talk to my friends who are used to political bitching or spiritual/philosophical rants. But this has pretty much been my life these past few weeks. sigh. but it's fun either way. Once I get things stabilized, maybe I'll start trying to program again.
later!
