Can we hang the rich, yet?

Boo fucking Hoo.  It's called a social contract, you didn't just earn your fantabulous wealth all on your own, asswipe, and you owe a debt to society.  Such a fuckin' pity people expect a little compassion and concern for the social good.

Look, I'm a person who would love to see a radical re-working of our entire system.  I'm not particularly an "anarchist" in the orthodox sense, but I do think there's something (a LOT in fact) to be said for localized control, worker ownership, etc....  I don't LIKE a huge national government who fucking wages war for wealthy fucks like you to go around and piss on the people in our own country.

You didn't bitch and moan when those trillions were spent on death machines.  I mean, when did a tank ever build something up?  It tears shit down.  That's what a tank does.  You can't reform a tank.  You can't help it turn itself around.  And the cynical rich bastards would say that about people living in a ghetto.  But you know what, people do change.  You can work on building a more humane and just society.  But a more humane and just tank?  Fuck Off.  But that's ok, because the tank helps you.

Do I think that the national government is capable of it all?  No.  Do I think that the overall goal of the US Gov is to actually help "the people"?  No.  But some people do throw us crumbs.  And when we get the damn crumbs.  We'll take them.  Maybe someday I dream of some sort of revolution from below.  Maybe the cynic in me has given up on that dream.  But deep down there's smouldering embers.  And your hatred and your whiney bourgeois nose-cutting attitude acts as oxygen to those ever dimming lumps, and they spark up just a little more...

Now, speaking of tanks... There's a modern update to this, and I know some of you know this (Perhaps [livejournal.com profile] sammaelhain? I think I recall you having posted it at one time -- if anyone can link that, I'd love to see it and share it :))

The closest thing I can recall is the comic about the relationship between the boss and the bossed causing misery on all levels.

Hmm.

Maybe you'll know the artist, if it's the same guy...

He's done quite a few anarchists/anti-authoritarian posters after the Battle of Seattle (and I'd imagine he still continues)...

The one poster I can recall is "LIBERALS! When guns are outlawed only they will have guns" (and it's a Riot Police gunning towards the viewer) Does that sound familiar? It's kind of cartoony round style of art.

doesn't ring a bell

Dr. Sharon Poczatek, Lying Bastard

"The motivation for a lot of people like me – dentists, entrepreneurs, lawyers – is that the more you work the more money you make," said Poczatek. "But if I'm going to be working just to give it back to the government -- it's de-motivating and demoralizing."

A) Boo fucking hoo.

B) Also, the tax just doesn't work that way. It's not like you get nothing for any work done after the $250k mark, it's just that you'll still be taxed at a whopping 6.25% on it for social security (instead of 0%) and 39.6% instead of 35% for dollars over 250k. These idiots saying they're going to reduce their hours worked to save money are flat-out fucking lying, because that's just not how tax brackets work.

Imagine the choice: Do you want to take home 62% of 300k, or cut your gross pay by $50k and take home 64% of 250k? Yeah, that 2% is a real disincentive not to take home an extra $26k a year.

Somewhat amazed that people who are able to make over $250k don't know how the tax code actually works. Actually, I'm sort of wondering that if people actually knew what progressive taxation meant, if people wouldn't be as pissed about it. Probably not.
