In what some are calling the largest anti-war rally in Madison since Vietnam, thousands of people took to Downtown streets Saturday to protest a possible war in Iraq.

Madison police said the crowd that gathered for Wisconsin Pre-Emptive Peace Day numbered at least 5,000, while rally organizers said there were about 8,000 in attendance. A spirited and vocal march from Library Mall to the state Capitol extended for several blocks along State Street and temporarily backed up traffic at intersections with State Street.

I'm surpised. I heard some organizers were saying 7000-8000, and I figured probably a few thousand(maybe 2000-3000), but the cops even pegged it at 5000, so that's definitely impressive... I'm glad I could've been there. I'm finally recovering physically. All I have to say is that going on just a few block march, and having that put you out, certainly makes you realize how fucking outta shape you really are.

What pisses me off is that none of the local TV channels websites have any coverage... Oops... NBC 15 has an article about it, but ABC and CBS don't, strangely(considering NBC is the one owned by the arms manufacturer)... But there's is just a condensed version of the one on the State Journal (saying the source is AP)

Hope this helps in answering your question, Riordan, about the location :)

Originally this was to protest Dick(head) Cheneys visit to town, but he cancelled, so we went ahead and did a protest anyways...
