While listening to some downloaded Terence McKenna clips(thanks <ljuser="sukiblue">) today at work, I heard some new things, new metaphors of his that I hadn't heard before.

One was referring to the eschaton, and how there's this view of the apocalypse. First, that this is the birthing process, and that we are being squeezed through the birth canal, and it's painful. But we will be into the open world. It's scary, he says, because we are moving from the comfort of the womb, into the next dimension/world.

He says, instead of thinking of the eschaton and everything as looking to the future, realize that we are in essence, driving while looking through the rearview mirror, which is better than no mirror, but not as good as keeping our eyes on the road ahead. The problem is we look behind us and see all the shit. He said he likes to see it as burning the bridges, and that's what's happening right now.

He then talks about the metaphor of a caterpillar metamorphosizing into a butterfly, and that we are in the chrysalis. And that the caterpillar essentially is destroyed in the process. And that's what's happening now. But I began to think about the term Metamorphosis. Meta: from Merriam-Webster "situated behind or beyond", and morphosis, the root being Morph: form or shape. So what we have is the form beyond. Not in the sense of changing form, but the Platonic concept of form. And what we can see is that the chrysalis is the timewave itself. We are embedded within the fractal-graph, shrouded within the flux of time... And the end point, the flying-saucer/ufo is the human oversoul towards which we are evolving. The "butterfly" But the whole thing, in a sense, is really the oversoul, in my interpretation, if you step outside of the linear time-dimension.

But getting back to metamorphosis. It really is a term that fits into the picture, because the oversoul casts its holographic shadow back in time. It is this transcendental object that he says we are grasping towards that is the eschaton, it's the butterfly... It is our destination. It is, in essence, the ultimate Form. The Metamorph.

I don't know if he intended this pun, but knowing his pure linguistic ability, and his great gift of gab(as he says about his Irish heritage), I don't doubt that he knew that in some sense when he speaks of metamorphosis, that this is also in a sense what he was referring to...

Just a thought.
