It's a right-wing online ad...
Two things come to mind, one obvious, the other not so much.
The obvious technique here is the term "common-sense", one of the banes of my existence, this phrase. What the fuck is common sense? "Well, it's what everyone believes. Because it's so obvious! And that's just the way it is by golly!" Yeah, you know that bullshit type of right-wing radio talk.
The second is a more subtle and insidious technique that I should point to. It's the phrases "The President agrees..." Agrees? Who is he agreeing with? Well, there is an implicit "with you!" of course... It's these kinds of framing that people need to watch for in the public discourse, from ALL sides...
The masses are programmed to be ignorant. They don't use their minds to dig into the context and the manipulations the media does.
The Democrats frame it by the term "frame" and say that's the Republican's methodology. Yet, of course, they do it as well. You can't ignore it in the world of politics.
