I was thinking today, about the concept of history and pre-history. History is what we call the record of events. Early "history" we now consider to be mythological in nature, stories of gods and deities in another plane... Jung would call them archetypal stories. These stories were carved in stone: Lithographs. There is a sort of incarnation then, of idea into physical form on a dense substrate of rock. History proceeds to descend into less mythical aspects, record keeping of kings, taxation, then tales of peoples, and then individuals. As this progressed, technology changed, into more ephemeral material, the stories we told became more mundane. But now, we have turned around, and are now utilizing stone once again, instead of mere stylii impressing shapes on rock, we have shifted magnetic bits to encode information. But now, there is a necessary interface between us and the information.
The other issue I notice, however, is that the information is now entered into a virtual space, and the stories we tell are really mundane, our journals, etc... But are we sculpting a world, a space that is now reverting back to the way it was... tales of gods and goddesses. But this idea to me, seems to be this inversion now, where the rocks we are writing on become easily destroyed with the push of a button. Instead of symbols etched into the rock, we now extract the symbols, decode, decompress the information into a "reality", in the same method the imagination takes a book and sees it in the mind. This is the same process of the UFO oversoul, the above and below, the interior and exterior flipping outside, the "first shall be last"...
