i was just looking online at some of the various "buddhist communities", and it sickens me to see all this hokey new-age bullshit mixed in with buddhism.
it's really fucking disturbing.
i already knew that a lot of the mahayana sects deviated. but these american sects/schools are really fucked up. a lot of them seem to claim the gelugpa trad... There's a shitload in madison right now that do so.
i just saw one lady who claims the Rinpoche has incarnated into her, and is seeking 5 enlightened individuals... blah blah...
then there are those things that have retreats for 1000 bucks, and buy meditation bowls for much a few hundred bucks. buy buy buy.
you don't need shit to be a buddhist. in fact, with buddhism, there is no shit.(reminds me of those shirts that had religion and their interpretation of "shit" ie: Catholic - If shit happens, it's your fault. Zen - No Shit.) no shit to buy no shit to worry about, because no shit exists.
or rather, all shit is a conditioned thing subject to arising and decay. it does not inherently exist, because it's made up of multiple causes. shit, cannot, of and by itself, exist, it only exists in so far as it was shat out by an entity, and that entity had consumed food, and left the shit over. shit then is part of a greater process. as is all that is, thus there is no self-existent shit.
and that's all you need to know. you don't need to find some fucking incarnation of buddha amitabha, or look for the maitreya buddha in the year 2012... the buddha is here, right now, in you, in everything, because the buddha is the wisdom of realization that's no further than the tip of your own nose. you are the fucking buddha, you just have to fucking wake up and realize it. and you have to do it.

Yes, there's a divine in another. Namaste, I bow to it, but it's the divine in me that bows to the divine in thee. there is no need for some saint to bless me. i am the saint myself, and i bless myself.
because the divine is in you... the divine is in the shit that you shit out of you. the divine was in the food that you ate... and the shit that was divine of yours is now food for divine maggots and bacteria, and they ever arise, grow, and decay.

Back whence it came. The buddha mind is not some eternal thing. The buddha mind dies when you do. The buddha mind dies when your world dies with you.there is no other buddha mind. my mind is the buddha mind, your mind is the buddha mind, all mind is buddha mind, no mind is buddha mind. the buddha mind is forever, and the buddha mind is never. the buddha mind is beyond all being and becoming, and the buddha mind is always and forever being and becoming.

wow. i really love this post & absolutely couldn't agree more
we're so eager to buy into the icons & symbols, to embrace the surface, the titles, the divisions, that we're forgetting the ideal, & dismissing the truth.
