Truly, (some of) those Utah Republicans love to literally "demonize" the Other.

Utah County Republicans ended their convention on Saturday by debating Satan's influence on illegal immigrants.

The group was unable to take official action because not enough members stuck around long enough to vote, despite the pleadings of party officials. The convention was held at Canyon View Junior High School.

Don Larsen, chairman of legislative District 65 for the Utah County Republican Party, had submitted a resolution warning that Satan's minions want to eliminate national borders and do away with sovereignty.

In a speech at the convention, Larsen told those gathered that illegal immigrants "hate American people" and "are determined to destroy this country, and there is nothing they won't do."

Illegal aliens are in control of the media, and working in tandem with Democrats, are trying to "destroy Christian America" and replace it with "a godless new world order -- and that is not extremism, that is fact," Larsen said.

At the end of his speech, Larsen began to cry, saying illegal immigrants were trying to bring about the destruction of the U.S. "by self invasion.

Republican officials then allowed speakers to defend and refute the resolution. One speaker, who was identified as "Joe," said illegal immigrants were Marxist and under the influence of the devil. Another, who declined to give her name to the Daily Herald, said illegal immigrants should not be allowed because "they are not going to become Republicans and stop flying the flag upside down. ... If they want to be Americans, they should learn to speak English and fly their flag like we do."

...

Larsen was allowed to finish the debate with a one-minute speech.

"If the Democrats take over the country, we will be dead, and we will have abortion and partial-birth abortion and the Republican Party will go into extinction," he said. "Nancy Pelosi and the ACLU would oppose this (resolution).""

Jesus fuck... Talk about Orwellian Co-optation: Today, my friends isn't really, you know... May Day, international revolutionary day of solidarity for the worker (Haymarket FTW). Nope, Dubya just had to declare it "Loyalty Day"! WTF?
And isn't this sorta what that whole "Independence Day" is supposed to be about? Ugh, seriously, can we start the revolution, finally?

Loyalty Day, 2007
A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America

America was founded by patriots who risked their lives to bring freedom to our Nation. Today, our citizens are grateful for our Founding Fathers and confident in the principles that lead us forward. On Loyalty Day, we celebrate the blessings of freedom and remember our responsibility to continue our legacy of liberty.

Our Nation has never been united simply by blood, birth, or soil, but instead has always been united by the ideals that move us beyond our background and teach us what it means to be Americans. We believe deeply in freedom and self-government, values embodied in our cherished documents and defended by our troops over the course of generations. Our citizens hold the truths of our founding close to their hearts and demonstrate their loyalty in countless ways. We are inspired by the patriotic service of the men and women who wear our Nation's uniform with honor and decency. The military spouses and families who stand by their loved ones represent the best of the American spirit, and we are profoundly grateful for their sacrifice. Our country is strengthened by the millions of volunteers who show deep compassion toward their neighbors in need. All citizens can express their loyalty to the United States by flying the flag, participating in our democracy, and learning more about our country's grand story of courage and simple dream of dignity.

The Congress, by Public Law 85-529, as amended, has designated May 1 of each year as "Loyalty Day." This Loyalty Day, and throughout the year, I ask all Americans to join me in reaffirming our allegiance to our Nation.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 1, 2007, as Loyalty Day. I call upon the people of the United States to participate in this national observance and to display the flag of the United States on Loyalty Day as a symbol of pride in our Nation.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this thirtieth day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand seven, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-first.

GEORGE W. BUSH
So, I know I've posted in the past about one time wanting to just have a fucking mental psychotic breakdown and get it done with already and not have to go in to work (or at least my current place of employment).

I've also wished for a heart attack, for an accident that renders me disabled (at least temporarily)... something, anything to have an excuse to get the fuck out.

I know this isn't rational, nor "normal".
Is it common to have such horrific thoughts? I'm I just a freak? Will I feel this way about other jobs? I seriously don't think I've ever felt *this* way about a job before. I've had stressors. And I am definitely just more overall stressed these days than I used to be... I just have no clue how much comes down to my actual place of employment, and how much is actually just me, and I get scared thinking that maybe it's just me, and that, no matter where I go (jobwise), no matter what I do, I will always want some tragic fate to befall me in order to escape.

It scares me. I think I may mention it in my next "therapy" appointment. *sigh*

("therapy" means : go to the doctor so he gives me pills... Asks some questions and I politely pretend like nothing is wrong, except a few disturbances here and there (granted when I last went in, it wasn't that bad) I'm thinking of printing these types of posts of mine so I have something to bring in so he can see how I feel.
Normally I hate digg's community. They're pretty fucking stupid most the time, and in a way, this is juvenile shit, but...

Well, from what I can gather, someone somewhere attempted to post a Hex code that decrypts HD-DVDs so you can rip them from the disc, etc...
Apparently, the digg mods (Kevin Rose and some other dude) blocked that post. Enough users are pissed off enough about this censorship (i know... "it's a private company, it's not censorship if it isn't the government" whatever) that they're now basically using their community power to spam the front of the site with this code.

Supposedly, digg (not the community, but the founders/owners) took money from the HD-DVD group, and that is why they're trying to prevent this code from hitting the main page. Of course, it's not working. They're users are pissed, saying make sure you use ad-block, deny digg the revenue from their ads, etc...

This is pretty nifty activism on the digg's community (IMO) for once. Not saying it's the best use of resource, but fuck... if the mods didn't censor the first story, I probably would've overlooked it. Now since it's all bumped up everywhere, kind of impossible to ignore it now.

I dunno, it's just interesting to me.
