Also, today, I picked up Archaic Revival for Tony, cuz on the way to Squarepusher, he said he was interested in learning more about Terence's ideas. I like it, I think it's a good intro. And now that I have a burner, I can burn a lot of the MP3's from here and give them to him as CD's(the ones that'll fit as non-MP3)

Strange that he's the only one of my friends without a computer. It's really amazing to me. I mean, he's got the old 486 laying around somehwhere, but really. it's a 486, with windows 3.1... Are YOU gonna surf on that piece of shit(granted, I was still using DOS when I first got on line, but hey... ya gotta start somewhere)...

Oh, the main point of all this though, is that I picked up Process and Reality by Alfred North Whitehead(of whose philosophy Terence references a lot) I also wanna get this kick ass book I found with a bunch Buckminster Fuller's writings in it. And this one on neo-shamanism(break open your head, or something like that it's called)

Will make a separate post about last nights show(probably tomorrow as I don't have the mental energy for it, and am a bit discombobulated by energy dealings)

Looks really interesting. That's a great link to McKenna's words. I am going to download them all and burn them as well. I wonder what became of his place in Hawaii. Are people still continuing his work?

I dunno... I'm sure his brother Dennis has some role to play. I was imagining a biography of Terence, showing the more personal side. We catch glimpses, of course, but it would be great to see how he grew up, and the factors that influenced his life... To see the relationships he had. To go beyond the ideas, and to see him as the human he was.

I think that would help in a sense give a clear picture of the man who would refuse to be a guru. heh.

I personally would assume that he would have some sort of way to continue the foundation after he passed, but don't know much about how he ran it and what sort of organization he utilized. I don't know why I've been on such a Terence kick for the past few months. May because his clarity and eloquence provide some sort of spiritual sustenance which I think I need lately.

What I love about him is his refusal to necessarily believe everything he said. He was a sort of skeptic/agnostic of his own philosophy, without being one of the dogmatic-atheist type skeptics. And I know that that's pretty much how I tend to view the world.

I agree with your summation of McKenna's attitude to his own philosophy. It would be interesting for someone of his intellect and insight to go head to head with Bush on certain issues, but then there's no way this could ever be allowed...
I would like to know how he learned to speak so eloquently. Where did he go to school? What did he read? I'm sure there is a book/website with just such information in it. I'm off to look right now.
