Item 1: Autechre -
Last Saturday, we went to see an autechre show. Tony and I went to visit our friend Brent on Friday... Chilled at brents on friday. Saturday, i washed my clothes at his place. Man!!! I didn't know there were washers and dryers that took so long. Anyways, later on, like 5 or 6 we went to town(he lives about 20 minutes outside Minneapolis)...
We went to a sweet records store(forgot the name), and I picked up Mira Calix Peel Sessions, Panacea "Phoenix Metabolism" and Atau "Biorythms". Highly recommend the Atau disc. It's a combination of blip-bleep tunes, soft/ambient noise, and some more dancy experimentalish techno. Interesting stuff. Not bad. It's on Caipirinha records. Tony picked up Two Lone Swordsmen. Hrrrmmm... OK, lets see...
We go the The Quest Club, and the Ascot Room wasn't opened yet(they were performing there), so we went to Old Chicago for some chips. I ate too much.(as usual, sigh) It wasn't too much if we were just chilling, but for dancing, it was too much. Finally, we left the place around 8:00 and there was a long-ass line. It wasn't moving very much. A few dorky kids in line, just being very dumb. Kinda like annoying geeks from high school. Ah, the good old days. heh heh :) Finally got inside... Man this is gonna be a long post. Maybe I'll break it into a few pieces... Yes, indeed, that's what I'll do.
We're going to the WORT block party today, so I don't wanna miss that. If you wanna see how fucking cool WORT is, check out there web-site:

They have everything from local politics type community morning talk show, to country and bluegrass in the weekday mornings, to left-wing political shows at noon(locally produced call in shows), though it's not always political... Then at 1 usually more political type talk shows, except on Tuesdays there's New Dimensions Radio Magazine, a sorta new-agey show, but they have some very interesting guests sometimes. There's also Alternative Radio with great speakers like Noam Chomsky, Amiri Baraka, Edward Said, Studs Terkel, etc... And on Fridays!!!! The Mel and Floyd Show... The fucking ABSOLUTELY GREATEST political and current events satire/comedy show on the air. Just Mel and Mr. Smarty Pants(Quoting the intro:
Welcome to the Mel and Floyd show, I'm Mel, Floyd is on assignment, but with me as always, is Mr. Smarty Pants)... I wish I could just share this show with the world. Maybe I'll try and tape the show and broadcast it to the world on shoutcast. You will be a believer. The monkey overlords will one day rule!(another great inside joke) Anyways. Let's just say I LOVE WORT! If there is one thing i will ever miss about Madision it is that. Most radio is corporate shit. Even PBS is a corporate whore(mmm. always wanted to say that!) I can always find indie type video rental stores(even though four-star video heaven kicks so much ass as it is), and smaller music stores, but WORT is something very special and unique.
OK, enough! I will post more on the autechre show tonight after the simpsons/malcolm in the middle gathering(we dont' watch x-files anymore, cuz we think it's gone to shit. Like it's just a gorefest now. Let's see how gory we can be! But the big plots and stuff seem to have suffered(at least from the few episodes we DO catch now and then) Oh well. Peace out y'all
