Just installed BeOS 5.0 Personal Edition... Gonna try it out now. Wish me luck, and hope I don't fuck up my system(yet again)... I'm having some sort of faith this time.

gentoo (http://www.gentoo.org/) is my favorite win alternative these days. if you re looking for a change, it s a nice way to do gnu/linux (http://www.gnu.org/gnu/linux-and-gnu.html)

Well, sadly, I use Mandrake. I'm lazy, I know. I used to use Debian back in like 97/98-ish... or at least, tried to on this little dinky ass laptop that only had floppies. It kinda worked, but not with xfree-86. I picked up mandrake 7.2 a long time ago, and then just used mandrake since.

I've heard gentoo is a bit more hackish... I don't mind that, but I wanna get work done, and I can still hack mandrake if I want. Why do you prefer Gentoo over other distros? I guess my problem is I'm not too aware of all the different distributions and their pluses and minuses. But yeah, maybe I can try that at some point.

Alas, i tend to use windows most of the time(dunno why... I was only going to use it for games and programming music, but ended up using it for everything... sigh)

Ultimately, I find Windows just simply better for media type shit. I don't like the interface for GIMP, and the text abilities in GIMP suck. They're bitmaps, not vectors. Unless there's been some new changes since I last looked. So I do my graphics for my web-page in windows, also. Anyways, I digress. Please respond and let me know why you like Gentoo...
