The Department of Commerce said it will support an electronic-numbering system, known as ENUM, which would allow consumers to specify a single identifier for their telephone numbers, e-mail and Instant Messaging (news - web sites) addresses, fax numbers, and mobile phone numbers.

Great, so now, my email address is my phone number? What does this mean for spam? Now that the federal "no call" list is in effect, does that mean, any spam on the whole system is illegal, or does this open the way for spammers to legally call and harrass me? What if i don't *want* one universal ID? This is a bit bothersome to me...
