Serbia and all of former Yugoslavia would be considered Eastern Europe. My impression was that when you cross the now defunct line of the iron curtain, you have crossed into eastern Europe, and on the other side is considered western, but i could be wrong. The Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian language is of slavic origin which does sound very similar to Russian. Of course, there is also the Chekoslovakian language which (I think) also sounds alot like Russian. Coulda been any of these I'd suppose.
I've got a crappy shortwave radio with analog controls and a weak ability to pick up stations, so i can't really tune in to much of anything beyond the Americas it seems. I miss my old SW radio that i had as a kid- i was able to pick up broadcasts from all over the globe with that one.
