Get up and read LJ to see someone's hours are being cut :(
Hit all the red lights on the way in.
Pull into the lot, and see "Honey Wagon" (the bee with a clipped nose -- sewer truck, oh shit (No Pun Intended)) Find out: No bathrooms today (apparently none in afternoon, yesterday, fortunately I wasn't here. No clue when we'll have toilets again.

Then dealing with plain ol' work shit. *sigh*

New superhero idea: Mutated Potato --> Tubermensch.
Yeah, I was thinking that might be my next T-Shirt "design..." "Winter Happens"

I was thinking the other day about how we explained to my Dad over xmas the difference between year, day and seasons in terms of rotation.

More specifically, about the ~23 degree tilt on the earths axis and how it leads to the seasonal changes.

But now I'm trying to wonder: What if there was no tilt? What happens? Would it be one uniform season? It seems odd to me, yet... Isn't that what would happen? I can't quite visualize it...

EDIT: "In this case the plane of the Earth's poles would always be perpendicular to the sun. The sun would always be just on the horizon 24 hours a day on every day at the poles. Every day would be like what it currently is on the equinox since every location on Earth would have about a 12 hour sunlight days and the noon sun angle would be about the same every day. There would no longer be season as we know them. The temperature and precipitation pattern would not vary much. It would still be warm at the equator and cold at the poles. The most profound impact on temperatures would be at the poles. Instead and dark and frigid temperatures in the winter and warmer and constant sun in the summer, the polar areas would have much more uniform temperatures year round and the sun would always be low on the horizon. Across the Earth it would be like it is in the middle of fall or spring but it would last all year every year. Areas today that have wet, dry, warm and cold seasons would have a fairly constant weather all year whether it be wet, dry, warm and/or cold.

Would there be any differences at all? There would still be some slight changes during the year even though there would not be seasons as we know them now. The Earth-Sun distance does vary during the year. Currently the sun is closest to Earth in the Northern Hemisphere winter and further away in summer. With no tilt, this change in Earth-Sun distance during the year would produce a slight impact on the weather pattern. It must be emphasized the impact would be small since the Earth-Sun distance is not significantly different during the year (91.4 million miles in January compared to 91.5 million miles in July). Earth having tilt has a far greater impact on the weather pattern but without any tilt the Earth-Sun distance would have the dominant impact on season"

So... for my 2012 campaign, I promise to work towards a true "Polar Shift" We will make massive rockets designed to tilt the earth 23 degrees to eliminate the wobble and bring uniform seasons.

diff is a utility in *nix type OS's (and I'm sure you can get a windows version -- and lots of editors have such features...) It highlights differences between two files.

I mentioned earlier this month that I think it'd be handy to have a diff utility for Tracker software (tracker as in music trackers (a tool to make music), not bittorrent trackers). You could see which lines between 2 file revisions have changed.

Now, looking at my twitter list of followers/following (like LJ's friends/friend of list), I am trying to quickly deduce who's different on each list.

It would be cool if there was a universal "diff" utility to see your social networks friends/friends-of lists.

I like to just sort of see the overlap.

Mexico's most wanted man, "El Chapo", or Shorty, heads the Sinaloa cartel, one of the biggest suppliers of Cocaine to the U.S. In 1993 was arrested in Mexico on homicide and drug charges. Escaped from federal prison in 2001, reportedly through the laundry, and quickly regained control of his drug trafficking organization, which he still controls today. In 2008 Mexican and Colombian traffickers laundered between $18 billion and $39 billion in proceeds from wholesale shipments to the U.S. Shorty, an alleged tunnels expert, is believed to have directed anywhere from a third to half of that during the past 8 years. Apparently started out working with Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo, "El Padrino", or the Godfather, head of the most powerful drug trafficking group in Mexico at that time. U.S. government is offering a $5 million reward for his capture.
