So I just logged into linux tonight and tested the server again (since I figured it should work, and had no clue why... maybe "mount -a" didn't work... and that seems to be the case, as now I can access it, but it's asking me what to do with the mime type of "phtml" (strange as it's technically a php file)...

But that's a easy problem to fix, since it's only a matter of setting mimetypes in the config file which I've done plenty of times before. I wonder why mount -a didn't work... and yes, i did it with sudo.

Just odd.

Anyways i'm glad it's finally reading the directory properly.

So, I got it to load the php file (simple tweakery, natch)... but now the one server I have for mp3's apparently uses a db (it's been a while since I've set it up so I forgot how it worked) I didn't think it did, but apparently I have a mysql db setup in windows to deal with it. Of course, now I don't have the proper db setup in linux. I don't know if that's actually the problem, as it's giving me a dbx_connect error, which implies a db issue. But I really don't think I had a db running in windows. I'm gonna read up on it.

The other servercode (php again) I have (which I access by going to a different directory) is giving me problems sending header info ("header info already sent") or something like that. I'd prefer to use my primary mp3 server code (jinzora), and not the second one (zina) as jinzora does a better job of dealing with various data types and downsampling them quite capably, something zina doesn't do well. Also, jinzora has last-fm support which is pretty crucial. zina doesn't.

So, a little more troubleshooting is in order, i guess. oh well... Here I thought it would be as simple as pointing to the directory with the files in it.
damnit, yeah, it looks like it's gonna be a PITA to get corrected. links to codecs (to resample) are in windows format (both the actual codec binaries, and the path naming style (c:\... vs /media/hda1...), so first I'd have to get the codec binaries for linux . THEN I'd have to figure out how to switch configs for things like path names on the fly between linux and windows, and AFAIK that's not easily done. But they may have a way to do it.

I also have to look further into how the db is setup. All I see in the main settings file is "backend: database" which doesn't give any indication as to how I have the db set up (afaik, I can use mysql, mssql, sqlite, and others... perhaps a flat file, which must be what i'm using, cuz i don't believe i have mysql running in xp ... i'll have to double check... some sysadmin i am, huh?)

Also... the Drivel blog post editor sucks for LJ, because it appears there's no "tagging" feature for posts. oh well.
"The other day, during the same day when Zeyad's brother reported a death of his neighbor, I actually lost a relative, the holy rockets which have been blissfully directed by the Hidden Imam, may Allah hasten his alarm clock, has finally managed to kill my aunt's husband's brother. You wanna hear something funny?

He was a Shiite, 100% to the bone, and the only Shiite linegae in our honest-to-Abu Haneefa Sunni family."

"List seven songs you are into right now, no matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your Live Journal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to."

I've been on a Squarpusher, V-Snares kick this past month (obviously)... Though I've mixed it up with some more Jane's Addiction lately.
