It's a real shame that in America, it's sacrilige to even suggest that if we legalize drugs, we take a vast quantity of money out of terrorists pockets.
There a number of reasons why a proper implementation of drug legalization could help us in the war on terror.
As I mentioned above, the first and obvious blow against terror is the removal of the vast sums of money raised by the illicit distribution of said substances that contribute to their networks funding.
Secondly, we can take the human resources that are now devoted to the drug war and retarget them towards intelligence operations towards capturing bin-Laden, and working towards reducing the strength and numbers of al-Qaeda.
Third, if we legalize drugs, we can tax them, and use that money towards a health plan for those affected by it. Everytime someone buys heroin(for example), some of that money goes towards recovery centers, addiction research, etc.
Legalizing Hemp, of course, could open up the doors to alternative fuel sources. It can work towards weaning us off the petro-chemical resources in which we have so deeply buried ourselves. By cutting our usage of petrochem, we reduce the power of oil, and thus more funding for the fundamentalist movements.
It's just really fucking sad that this is not considered at all.
I admit, this is quite simplistic, and there are counter-arguments, but this is what needs to be discussed. We need to present these ideas, listen to our opponents, formulate counter-arguments, and continue the social discourse.
We need to stop relying on fucking politicians to lead us. We are only fucking sheep.
Do you REALLY believe Kerry is gonna be sooooooooo much better? Yeah, I admit, I'm voting for him. I don't like it. I don't expect much. I do think Kerry would never have actually gone cut-throat to Iraq(if at all), because as conservative as he can be, he didn't have the neo-cons behind him pushing him into a Zionist war.
I have to admit, I'm Anti-Zionist. Extremely so. Or rather, I can see a certain, sickening imperialism at play through the "war on terror", where Sharon, for example, tries to manipulate world leaders. He recently invited Putin to join Israel in the fight on terror.
