So, I've got the first round down to 7.
Thank you to everyone who voted! I really really really appreciate it very much :D

Behind the cut are the final ones:

The number one winner with 6 votes:
Kailex Lotus

Then, with 5 votes each:

4 votes:

Now, I'm gonna start with 4 prints, since I can't spend too much as an initial investment. But hopefully I make enough I can reinvest in more prints.

I'm going to do Kailex since that was the most popular, and then Kosma since [livejournal.com profile] morwennaf already offered to buy one :)

But that leaves me to drop one of the 5 vote getters. I'm leaning towards dropping DMalikT right now. I do like it, but I think the other ones might print better. So Buchov and Stochastaway. I've already done one print of Stochastaway years ago and given it to my sister so I know it looks alright. I think it'll look even better when printed professionally on quality paper (instead of inkjet and regular paper).

I'm gonna place the order after I get paid. :) CAN'T WAIT! Then I can set up shop!

1. While it is often difficult to tell what the originals were, do you know if there are any rights issues that you should be aware of if you're going to take a picture of someone or something that someone else took, do stuff to it and then sell the end result as your own work?
2. While Etsy is a great place to start, I still think you should contact local galleries/coffeehouses about displaying your work (or find someone who would be willing to do so on your behalf). I don't know how much it would cost to get photo-quality prints made, but I know you can mat them pretty cheaply on your own. I think there's a market for it both online and locally.

1) Yeah I think I'm pretty much fucked if anyone ever figures it out. Oh well!

I've thought about how cool it would be to do custom portraits for people, and also having my own models to shoot for source material, but i don't think the, uh... modelling aspect would ever materialize, so I am thinking of custom portraits since that's more acceptable/reasonable to most people. Then they can have something unique for them.

If I ever did have models, it wouldn't necessarily be custom (unless that's what they wanted), but source material for public sale as I do now.

2) I've thought about local places, but then I have to deal with framing/matting (and I *suck* at matting, terribly terribly suck at it, and I hate doing it)

When I lived near Mother Fools I thought about trying to see if I could put stuff up there. I still might. We'll see. I know Emmalee has done local art shows, so maybe if she knows of some show I can get some stuff printed to show there.
